What happens if it rains or the weather is bad?
This is a rain or shine event—the Peach drops only once a year!
Are tickets needed for this event?
This is a free event that is open to everyone. No tickets are needed.
What is your policy on bags and purses?
For security purposes, this year’s Peach Drop event will maintain a strict no bags/no carry-ins policy. Diaper bags and strollers can be checked at the gate. Simply put: please leave your bags at home!
What bars and clubs of Underground Atlanta will be open during Peach Drop?
The bars and clubs will not be open, but food and beverages (including adult beverages) will be available at the event.
Where can I park my car?
Visitors driving to Peach Drop may park their vehicles in the Underground Atlanta parking garages located on Martin Luther King Jr., Drive. Additional parking options.
Will there be street closings around Underground Atlanta during the Peach Drop?
Several streets will be closed to accommodate the large number of Peach Drop patrons:
- Peachtree Street from Auburn Avenue to MLK, Jr Drive.
- Pryor Street from Decatur Street to MLK, Jr. Drive.
- Wall Street from Central Avenue to Peachtree Street.
Will cabs be available?
Cabs will be available on-site throughout the event.
Does Marta run on New Years Eve?
MARTA runs until 2 a.m. We recommend utilizing the Five Points or Peachtree Center stations.
Can I bring my own alcohol or food to Peach Drop? Will alcoholic beverages be available for purchase during Peach Drop
No. Alcoholic beverages, non-alcoholic beverages and food will be available to purchase at the event.
What time does the entertainment start on the main stage?
Live entertainment kicks off at 7 p.m. and continues through the evening.
How old do I have to be to attend Peach Drop?
We welcome people of all ages to ring in the New Year at Peach Drop, but you must be 21 or older to purchase and consume alcoholic beverages.

The first Peach Drop was in 1989 at Underground Atlanta and has become a world-renowned event as well as a favorite Atlanta tradition.
Weighing in at more than 800 pounds, the peach weighs almost as much as an average adult horse!
The peach is made out of fiberglass and foam, the same materials that many surf boards are made out of!
Before making its annual decent, the peach undergoes a full makeover—being painted and refurbished each year!
The first headline act to perform at the Peach Drop was the Robert Ray Orchestra in 1989.
Some of the headliners to hit the stage at Peach Drop have included Ludacris, T.I., Morris Day & The Time, Collective Soul, Edwin McCain, Sugar Ray, Lonestar, Miranda Lambert, Julianne Hough, Kansas, Tito Jackson and Abby Road Live.
When the countdown begins, it takes the peach 58 seconds to descend the 138 foot tower of lights to its resting place at the bottom.
Millions of confetti pieces are expected to rain down onto Peach Drop patrons on New Year's Eve.
